Schaffhausen Breaks New Ground with Its First Ceramic Pilot's Chronographs
At the world-renowned Watches and Wonders show in Geneva, IWC Schaffhausen debuted its inaugural 41mm ceramic Pilot’s Chronographs.
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN “Oceana” is distinguished by a blue ceramic case crafted in partnership with Pantone®, taking after the U.S Navy uniforms. Meanwhile, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN features a bold black zirconium oxide ceramic case.
In 2022, IWC launched the 'Colors of TOP GUN' collection with a range of Pilot's Watches manufactured from coloured ceramic. Developed with Pantone®, the watches featured eye-catching hues such as IWC Lake Tahoe white and IWC Woodland green.
IWC Schaffhausen was among the first to make use of ceramic in watch cases.
The company continued to innovate by experimenting with different ceramic colors such as white, blue, or green. Creating these colored watches is an engineering marvel as zirconium oxide must be mixed with other metallic oxides to form the desired color.
