The pictures reveal that the EV9 is even roomier than we expected, surpassing the Kia Telluride's interior.  Taking a seat in it has confirmed that this vehicle provides a generously spacious feel.

We have the first glimpses of Kia's 2024 EV9, an electric SUV that remains true to its 2021 concept with a boxy design. While we've sampled all three roomy rows, Kia is yet to confirm anything regarding the powertrain, capacity of its battery, range or measurements. The EV9 should get unveiled in April -- stay tuned for more details then.

The 2024 Kia EV9 can be seen as an electric version of the Telluride and Kia hopes for the same success with their new electric vehicle. This is especially exciting since it is the first three-row, mid-size electric SUV to enter the market, joining vehicles like the Ford Explorer, Chevy Traverse, Toyota Highlander and Kia Telluride which all make hundreds of thousands of sales each year in the US. The only other three-row EVs available are significantly more expensive models, like the Rivian R1S or Tesla Model X, while those with a third row are limited to the much smaller Tesla Model Y.

Jochen Paesen, the VP of interior design, explains that Kia crafted the EV9's interior to feel even more spacious than it is. To achieve this goal, the dash design does not wrap around into the doors, which can make passengers feel closed in. As well, mesh headrests are used on the front seats allowing rear passengers to have an unobstructed view. The dash offers a horizontal and minimalist layout with two 12.3-inch screens - one for the gauge cluster and another for infotainment - plus a readout between them for HVAC setting control. Few physical knobs and buttons are included compared to current models, such as a volume knob, HVAC controls and touch-sensitive functions set into the dash giving access to different menus. While Kia has introduced an advanced infotainment system, they are yet to reveal any details or features of this new system.

Kia's survey gave us the expectation that their EV9 would either feature one rear motor or come with all-wheel drive. Price range predictions fall into the $50,000 to $70,000 area. The concept had boasted away of 300 miles, which is consistent with the display readout in an early prototype that showed 91 percent battery and 436 km (270 miles) remaining. Furthermore, it has been promised that charging will be even faster than the EV6 (which by itself is already one of our swiftest tests). Confirmation on these claims and more should arise when the EV9 is revealed late March, as well as information about its availability for purchase sometime before 2024.
